Complete Outdoor Living

As many homeowners are discovering, there is so much more to enjoy about your home than what is merely contained within four walls. Most folks leave a tremendous amount of leisure, space and utility completely untapped around their yard.

Get out and enjoy your yard...Nobody just sits at their kitchen window and watches the trees grow

Instead of going through the expense of buying a bigger house, many of our clients are upgrading their outdoor living spaces with beautiful dining rooms, charming patios, scenic paths and romantic water features. If properly designed, this process can not only engage the senses, but also solve ‘problem’ areas around the property, such as drainage issues, privacy concerns, noisy streets or unusable spaces.

These are just some of the emotions that a well-designed yard can provide, each balanced in their own way and perfectly in tune with your desires. Even when these elements are installed in different phases over several years — a great master plan provides you with the roadmap for long term happiness.

Where to Begin?

Great landscape design is unique and personal to each and every project. Knowing how to get started is often the toughest problem to solve. Fortunately that ‘problem’ is much easier to solve than most people think.

Start with listing a few goals of what you’re trying to achieve. What visions get your excited? Is it hosting festive parties for large crowds or is it escaping to a hidden garden destination for relaxation? Is it full of flowers and water gardens or do you want open space for the kids and pets to run?

Take a walk around your neighborhood (both during the day and in the evening). Develop a list of all the landscape features you love…patios, pergolas, hidden gardens, fountains, or romantic lighting.

Look at landscape websites and magazines at start a digital scrapbook. Make little notes on what jumps out at you. Color schemes, different textures of wood or rocks, a grand scale or something quaint. It’s also a good idea to develop a list of things you do NOT like as well.

Once we get an idea of what you’re interested in, it’s quite easy for us to begin a conversation. Together, we can form a working relationship to discuss your goals and ‘must haves’ that ultimately leads to a master landscaping plan for your home. From that point, we can map out a timeline for installation that meets your goals, timing, parameters and optimal seasonality for plantings.

UnCommon Imagination

The unique part of our creative passion is working with the seemingly endless list of variables and issues that crop up on every project. Working out clever design solutions is all in a typical day’s work:

  • Narrow/irregular shaped lots or unused side-yard access

  • Privacy or noise concerns from neighbors

  • Poor soil properties, steep slopes or poor drainage

  • Tricky mix of sun & shade zones

  • ‘Must have’ hardscape concepts that remain budget friendly

  • When requested, a phased install calendar spanning multiple years

  • Tight work zone access across property

Create Your Dream Yard

Our seasoned design professionals can help you get started and it all begins with an initial conversation together.

Some clients have been bookmarking garden magazines or websites for months…they know exactly what they want and have an extensive wish list. While other clients don’t have any idea, they just want a beautiful backyard that fits comfortably within their budget. Many times there are other ‘problem’ issues we can address as well, such lack of privacy, noise concerns, flooding issues or sloping yards that provide very little utility.

We’ve found the best process for translating your dreams and desires into reality is to form a creative partnership together. This collaborative process helps us learn about the types of projects you desire and more about your preferred style. Together, we create a smartly designed master plan that provides a ‘green print’ for installation success.
