Fire Features

The enchanting element of fire has the power to raise any outdoor space to the next level. The soft warmth and campfire ambiance is always a huge hit with guests, serving as the entertainment hub and visual focal point for your outdoor living space. Plus, a toasty fire extends the usable season for outdoor spaces well into the colder months.

Where to begin?

The design process begins by sitting down together with you to learn more about your vision on how you want to utilize your outdoor spaces. Once we understand more of the activities and lifestyle you’re wanting to take outside, then we can generate ideas to help maximize your enjoyment.

In this example, we can integrate ideas such a fire and water features as part of the overall master design plan, ensuring all the backyard elements (gardens, patios, decks, plantings, pathways, lighting) tie together beautifully and functionally.

Firepits

A firepit can be the main focal point in your landscape, or it can serve as one of many intriguing destinations among a choice of outdoor spaces. The location within your yard makes a huge difference as well.

Some of our clients make it the perfect spot to gather with friends, while other clients tuck it away in a special spot to enjoy a quiet moment by themselves.

Design Considerations:

  • Broad menu of colors, materials and textures available to create a visually stunning design

  • Seat walls allow for additional guests to join the campfire without the need for more furniture

  • 3-foot firepit sizes lend themselves to smaller groups and a more intimate conversation

  • Larger 6-foot sizes offer extra space to warmly welcome in a bigger crowd of guests

Fireplaces

Often these larger features are used to ‘anchor’ an outdoor living room. The location of a fireplace has a huge impact on the overall atmosphere and ultimately how often it will be used.

Due to their enhanced stature, a fireplace can serve as a privacy screen to neighbors and also be quite effective at blocking the prevailing wind.

Design Considerations:

  • Incorporate seating and dining area options

  • Extend elements of style from the house interior; this space becomes an additional room of your house

  • A visually stunning pergola is often used overhead to further add vertical interest and clearly define the room from afar

Water Features

The soothing sounds of flowing water mixed with the romantic movement of fire. Blending two of nature’s primal forces in a visual way that quickly becomes a focal point for your landscape.

These features work well within smaller footprint yards…or can be utilized as part of a larger overall backyard design,
